Unique and Special

Have you ever dreamed of having your own piece of jewellery custom designed? For many people, the chance to have a 'one off' piece designed and made is a very special occasion. We call it 'Bespoke Jewellery Design' and at Lacy's it is our privilege to collaborate with you to design a unique and special piece.

Bespoke is one of those lovely old fashioned words. It's actually from the 18th century and it basically means 'made to measure'. It is the opposite of 'off the rack'. Bespoke is when an item is made from scratch to your specifications.

It is exciting to go through the process of having your special piece personally designed and hand crafted. It may be your engagement ring, wedding band, eternity ring or a special piece to mark an occasion. Whatever the reason we are always delighted to discuss options and sketch drawings to bring all the ideas together.

Ideas and Design

Our customers often come to us with something in mind and brimming with wonderful ideas. It is our job to turn these ideas into a drawing and discuss all the options and specifications. We need to make sure that what you have in mind is translated into a beautiful piece of jewellery.

During the design process we are happy to incorporate gold, diamonds or gemstones that you may already own. We can also source a beautiful selection of diamonds, gemstones and pearls from our own merchants.

Once the design is decided we are very happy to quote on variations, such as 9ct or 18ct gold, or different diamond sizes or quality, so that you can consider different options.

HANDCRAFTED

After deciding on your final design, we take a 30% deposit and then the process of crafting your special piece can begin. It is always our privilege to create a special bespoke piece of jewellery.

It is a wonderful and exciting time embarking on your search for a beautiful engagement ring, but it can also be daunting! There are so many styles and options. At Lacy's we like to try to keep things simple, classic and good quality.

We have narrowed down the most important considerations when choosing your engagement ring to just three things. Your style, your lifestyle and somewhat unfortunately (but realistically!) your budget.

Style

Are you a simple, classic girl? You might opt for a solitary diamond. Remember there are so many lovely shapes to choose from. Do you love traditional styles and all things vintage? Perhaps a halo, or Art Deco style is for you. Maybe you just love having pieces that are original and unique? You might consider a coloured stone such as a sapphire, ruby, aquamarine or even opal.

If you find yourself constantly coming back to the same or similar styles, changes are, that this will be what you always love! Follow your heart!

Lifestyle

It is important to consider the day to day wear and tear that your ring might need to endure. Do you love to get your hands dirty in the garden? Maybe a strong diamond in a low, secure setting is for you! Are you someone who takes your jewellery off the moment you get home to keep it clean and unmarked? You will definitely be able to look after a more delicate style.

Diamonds have traditionally been a popular gemstone for engagement rings both due to their incredible sparkle and beauty, but also because they are incredibly strong! Other gemstones that stand up well to the long years of marriage include sapphires and Rubys, but will sometimes show signs of wear over time.

Budget

It is important to take into consideration what you can realistically spend, but do bear in mind, your engagement ring will be with you for many years to come. It's sitting there on your finger reminding you of the beautiful commitment you have made.

At Lacy's we recommend quality. A beautiful, good quality bright diamond will always look stunning. We would always recommend quality over size. However if your budget is tight, there are always options if you still are looking for a 'flashy' ring. Have you ever considered the earthy, golden tones of a champagne diamond?
